A strong password on your account can help minimize your risk from identity theft. Identity thieves search for accounts with weak passwords to set up phishing scams and send out spam or viruses under the account holder’s name.

We at Lackawaxen urge you to place a strong password on your account. The more sophisticated your password, the less likely you’ll be victimized.

Here are a few suggestions for creating your password:

• use at least 8 characters
• use a mix of lower and upper case letters
• use numbers
• use symbols except for those that are not allowed
• symbols not allowed: ~ [ " % \ ' ^ * | ]
